In 1971 he was the first draft, 3rd overall, of the baseball club Montreal Expos.

Jack Scalia, who rose to stardom as an actor after an injury shattered his pro baseball career, has headlined a near record eleven television series. Los Angeles resident Scalia has recently returned from living in Rome, Italy filming a remake of the Don Bellisario/Universal CBS produced American TV series "Tequila and Bonetti". The series is co-produced by Mastrofilm and Sony Pictures Entertainment and is a first time industry endeavor for both Company's and also the first time starring an American actor. The series recently debuted throughout Europe, reaching history-breaking ratings.

Fans remember Jack for his role of the tough, determined New York cop, Michael Demarco, in the CBS television film of Barbara Taylor Bradford EVERYTHIG TO GAIN. Brooklyn born Scalia starred opposite Sean Young.

His most recent performances are in the successful feature "Charades" with Karen Black and James Russo and the independent feature "Trail of Evidence". He recently appeared in the TBS film, "Silent Predator" which aired in July and garnered some of the highest ratings for cable television this year. Jack also starred opposite Ernest Borgnine as a land-developing crazed villain in the kid's film MEL and the sci-fi film "Silencers".

Among the titles in his over dozen telefilms are Jackie Collins' "Lady Boss", for which he was nominated for the prestigious Critics Award for best actor in a miniseries. He played the role of the controversial Joey Buttafuco opposite Alyssa Milano in CBS' "Casualty of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story". Others were the CBS miniseries "I'll take Manhattan", and the television series "Pointman".

His feature films include, FEAR CITY with Tom Berenger and Melanie Griffith, Beyond SUSPICION starring James Russo, SHATTERED IMAGE with Bo Derek, SILENENSERS and AMORE with Elliot Gould to name a few.

To his credit, Jack has not only works for television and film, but has continued to maintain a grass roots approach to his craft. He starred as the lead in the Pulitzer nominated play, "Red River Rats", written by Paul Gillette and directed by John Piepilow (STRANGELAND). Jack's performance drew rave reviews from both Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
